Help a liberal arts major gain experience

The majority of CEOs of Fortune 500 companies have liberal arts degrees. Students who study the liberal arts develop essential critical thinking and communication skills that make them big contributors in the work place—from the year after they graduate to 30+ years into their careers.

As an alumnus of the School of Arts & Sciences, you probably remember what it was like looking for that first job. You wondered how courses in English, philosophy and rhetoric were going to translate into neat bullet points on a resume.

Internships, research opportunities, summer experiences, and career preparation programs offer liberal arts majors a great opportunity to add to their skill set while exploring the many industries and careers available to them. Some of the best internships and experiences available are those recommended to our students by Arts & Sciences alumni who recognize the value of mentoring students as they make their way out into the world.

If your organization or company has an interest in helping a current student gain experience, please take the time to submit the opportunity online. After submitting, a staff member from the UR Career Development Center will contact you.
