Modlin Center for the Arts

The Modlin Center for the Arts, which recently underwent a $22 million expansion and renovation, houses the art, music, theatre and dance programs. The Center boasts a 500- to 575-seat main stage theater with an open stage for intimate actor-audience rapport, a 300-dimmer, state-of-the-art lighting console, a fully trapped acting area, digital surround sound and a sprung dance floor. Students also enjoy the 125- to 150-seat studio theater (black box) dedicated to teaching and student/faculty experimentation. The studio theatre includes a trapped acting area, modular seating, a 100-dimmer computer lighting console, a tension lighting grid and a sprung dance floor.

In addition to being a regionally acclaimed performing arts venue, the Modlin Center houses studio space and galleries that studio art majors enjoy. Fourth-year students who are completing a thesis in studio art are eligible to receive their own studio space. The studios are large and bright and inspire them to produce the work they’ll showcase in the Senior Exhibition, which is held in the Pickels Gallery at the Modlin Center. Students in digital art classes can check out a range of equipment at the Modlin Center and have access to two labs where they can create and edit their work.
