Assistant Professor of Political Science
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in political theory at the assistant professor level, to begin in fall 2010.
Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in classical and modern political theory. The department is especially interested in candidates who can help diversify the department’s curriculum (e.g., by contributing one or more courses on contemporary, non-Western, feminist, or comparative political theory). Candidates’ scholarship should be primarily in political theory, but the department is open to the area of specialization. Applicants must have received their Ph.D. by August 1, 2010.
Applicants should apply online at the University of Richmond Online Employment website using the Faculty (Instructional/Research) link. Applicants will be asked to supply electronically a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statement on teaching philosophy and experience, statement describing the applicant's research agenda for the next six years, teaching evaluations, and writing sample of up to 40 pages. Applicants should arrange for graduate transcripts and three letters of recommendation, including at least one that addresses teaching effectiveness and potential, to be sent electronically to Beth Ann Howard or via regular mail to Vincent Wang, Chair, Department of Political Science, University of Richmond, VA 23173. Applications must be received by October 15.
