Faculty Grant Funding for Students
One of the most important ways that faculty facilitate their students' research experiences, while at the same time ensuring their own work continues, is through the acquisition of grants. In recent years, faculty at Richmond have been awarded numerous grants from various institutions that generously support undergraduate research. Individual grants typically support the work of the faculty member while at the same time providing support for his or her student researchers. Students receive a stipend that helps them meet their living expenses while spending their summer or semester doing research.
The best way for students to find research funding via a faculty member's research grant is to get to know their professors early in their academic careers. Asking about the research they're involved in and working in their labs during the academic year can often help students uncover opportunities for further involvement and grant funding.
